Nikons brand-new D300 features a 12.3-megapixel DX-format (APS-C) image sensor with integrated A/D converter and 14-bit NEF (RAW) output, 6 fps shooting (8 fps with optional MB-D10 battery pack), two Live-View shooting modes (Handheld and Tripod) and a three-inch, 920,000-pixel LCD monitor. Similar in form and function to the Leica Digilux 3, the 7.5-megapixel DMC-L1 is a Four Thirds System D-SLR with a live-view monitor, sensor dust remover, simple controls, 3 fps shooting and compatibility with Four Thirds System lenses (including the 14-50mm Leica D Vario-Elmarit with built-in Panasonic MEGA OIS optical stabilizer). Just announced as we went to press, Panasonics second D-SLR, the new Lumix DMC-L10, features a 2.5-inch live-view LCD that rotates 270 degreesvery handy for odd-angle shooting. Other features of the Four Thirds System camera include 10.1-megapixel resolution, a new Face Detection system, Supersonic Wave Filter sensor dust removal, storage on SD and SDHC memory cards, three shooting formats (4:3, 3:2 and 16:9), 3 fps shooting, both phase-difference and contrast-based AF, built-in TTL flash and more. Focal-length factor is 2x. Estimated Street Price: $1,300. Pentax K10D. Rugged and weather-resistant, the 10.2-megapixel K10D incorporates sensor-shift shake-reduction that works with all lenses, a sensor dust-removal system, 22-bit A/D conversion, the ability to record RAW images in Pentax PEF or Adobe DNG format and one-touch switching from JPEG to RAW+JPEG capture and more. The camera is compatible with a wide range of Pentax lenses and features several unique exposure modes (including one that lets you shift ISOs at the turn of a dial). Focal-length factor is 1.5x. This 10.1-megapixel model features a weather- and dust-resistant body, sensor-shift image stabilization that works with all lenses, sensor dust-removal system, one-touch from JPEG to RAW+JPEG recording, 22-bit A/D converter and 3 fps shooting.
