Page 2 of 9 Canon Cameras. Canon’s digital SLR system includes seven EOS D-SLR camera bodies, along with more than 60 lenses, an extensive flash system and a number of accessories. The popular entry-level 8-megapixel EOS Digital Rebel XT is now joined by the EOS Digital Rebel XTi, which features 10 megapixels and a much larger LCD monitor, even better performance and a sensor anti-dust system. The next step up includes the workhorse EOS 20D and its successor, the EOS 30D, both 8.2-megapixel models with a fine blend of features, performance and image quality. The 30D adds a larger 2.5-inch LCD monitor, a 100,000-cycle shutter, spot metering and a superquick 0.15-second startup time to the 20D’s excellent feature array. Moving up the line, the EOS 5D offers 12.8 megapixels and a full-frame image sensor, along with solid performance and superb image quality. The EOS-1D Mark II n is the action camera in Canon’s line, able to shoot its 8.2-megapixel images at 8.5 fps (up to 48 JPEGs or 22 RAW images in a single burst), the fastest frame rate among D-SLRs. It also has more megapixels than cameras that even approach that rate. The image sensor lies between full-frame and APS-C, delivering a 1.3x focal-length factor. At the top of the line is the EOS-1Ds Mark II, the resolution king of the 35mm-style D-SLRs, sharing the n’s fine features but with a full-frame, 16.7-megapixel Canon CMOS image sensor and a 4-fps maximum shooting rate. Both of Canon’s Mark II pro D-SLRs are rugged and water-resistant.
