Block The Glare
Shooting with the sun behind you makes it difficult to see your digital camera’s LCD screen. The Kaiser Fototechnik digiShield for LCDs uses no tape or Velcro and blocks out light to enable clearer viewing of your image. The shield conveniently attaches to the tripod thread in the base of your camera and is engineered to adapt to all camera models. List Price: $25 (small); $30 (large). Contact: HP Marketing Corp., (800) 735-4373, www.hpmarketingcorp.com.

Home Photo Lab
Intended specifically for photo printing, the Hewlett-Packard Photosmart 8750 Professional Photo Printer uses nine different-colored inks for more precise and vibrant color. Light and dark gray cartridges in the ink system help achieve high contrast and smooth transitions in black-and-white photographs. The printer can create prints up to 13x19 inches and, with the use of thermal dye technology, there’s no dry time or smudging. Estimated Street Price: $500. Contact: Hewlett-Packard, (800) 752-0900, www.hp.com.

Adobe Update
Adobe has announced the latest version of Photoshop, CS2. A new tool called Vanishing Point allows you to automatically adjust new elements in your image to the correct visual perspective. CS2 also features updated versions of Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive, Acrobat and Adobe Bridge visual file browser. Bridge now allows you to process RAW images while you continue to work in Photoshop, with access to all of the full Creative Suite programs. List Price: $599 (Photoshop)—$149 (upgrade); $1,200 (CS2 Premium)—$549 (upgrade). Contact: Adobe, (800) 833-6687, www.adobe.com.

Correct Calibration
Keeping your monitor and printer calibrated is an important aspect of digital darkroom printing. ColorVision’s Spyder2 Plus Digital Darkroom software bundle includes a color sensor that calibrates your CRT, LCD and laptop display, and its printer utility uses your existing flatbed scanner to load paper profiles, enabling you to color-manage your prints. List Price: $249. Contact: ColorVision, (800) 554-8688, www.colorvision.com.

3-CCD Technology

Simply drag and drop your files from memory card to hard drive. The GR-X5 features three individual CCDs, each one specifically dedicated for red, green and blue, which together produce true-to-life color. A Megabrid imaging engine separately processes video and still images, limits noise and enables clear, high-resolution images to be captured.
