Leading the pack in performance-per-dollar, Smartparts offers several models at popular prices. The new Digital Picture Frame features a large, 10.4-inch LCD display, VGA (640 x 480) resolution, movie (.avi) file and MP3 capability, plus remote-control access for easy operation; it’s compatible with all popular flavors of memory cards. To enjoy your images, simply remove the media card from your digital camera, insert the card into the digital picture frame and the frame will display the pictures directly from the media card using its automatic slideshow feature. Or you can scroll through the images one-by-one using the included remote control. You can also insert an empty memory card into the frame and upload edited sets of images from your computer via USB 2.0. Estimated Street Price: $249.

For those on a tighter budget, the smaller Digital Picture Frame provides a 5.6-inch LCD display and a built-in SD/MMC and Memory Stick card reader. Its genuine wood frame is right at home in any living room or office. Estimated Street Price: $99. Contact: Smartparts Inc., www.smartpartsproducts.com.

MediaStreet’s eMotion conveniently combines a digital picture frame with a DVD player. The unit features a seven-inch (diagonal) LCD and a 3-in-1 card reader that handles SD, MMC and Memory Stick. It displays JPEG image files, plays MP3 and WMA audio files and is powered by a Li-ion battery or the included AC adapter. The eMotion also comes with 3.5mm audio jacks (for external speakers or headphones) and a super-thin, credit card-sized remote control. Optional accessories include a carrying case and interchangeable face plates. Additional cool factor: When the eMotion is turned off, it’s a mirror. Estimated Street Price: $299. The Digital Spectrum MemoryFrame from Pacific Digital adds 802.11b wireless connectivity to the list of standard features. Unlike other models that use removable storage, the MemoryFrame uses 32 MB of built-in RAM and 20 MB of flash RAM. You upload image files from your PC or your wireless network directly to the frame.

The MemoryFrame features a 10.4-inch active matrix TFT LCD display that you frame yourself using virtually any standard 8x10 picture frame, which assures that it will match the décor of your home or office perfectly. It’s also compatible with the Kensington lock system, so it won’t mysteriously disappear from the boardroom. The included PixMaster software provides a basic set of editing tools that allow you to easily create slideshows complete with transitions, audio (.wav) and other attractive features. Estimated Street Price: $429. Contact: Pacific Digital, www.pacificdigital.com.
