The Nikon D40 is Nikon’s most compact and most affordable D-SLR to
date. This camera combines a host of high-end features with an
easy-to-navigate layout to make the creation of quality photographs
easier and fun. Its straightforward layout and design, combined with
the D40’s compact size, make it an excellent entry-level D-SLR. Supporting both NEF (RAW) and JPEG file formats, the camera gives photographers the versatility to vary the level of control they have over their images. Eight Digital Vari-Program Modes make taking portraits, landscapes or action shots easier without having to navigate a host of controls or menus. The 6.1-megapixel camera provides an affordable step up for photographers who have been shooting with compact digital cameras. Sold with the 18-55mm ƒ/3.5-5.6G Nikkor lens, it delivers a complete D-SLR system.
