The built-in retractable flash syncs with the camera to provide Auto, Red-Eye Reduction, Fill-In, Slow Synchronization and Manual modes. For even better control over your light, Olympus offers three external flashes for its E-System, as well. Twenty-eight preset shooting modes offer automatic settings for practically any situation. Some of the selections include Portrait, Night, Sunset, Macro (for close-ups), Landscape, Beach and Snow, Fireworks, Sports and more. Theres also a variety of manual modes, including Program, Aperture and Shutter mode when you want more control. Low, high or up-close shooting is no problem with the E-510s Live-View 2.5-inch LCD. One hundred-percent of the image is viewable at angles up to 176 degrees. To save power, switch to the optical viewfinder. The 10-megapixel Live-MOS sensor captures big image files, suitable for making poster-sized prints. Images can be recorded in RAW or JPEG format, or both simultaneously. Olympus Image Stabilization means sharper shots even at slower shutter speeds. The E-510s sensor-shift image stabilization is compatible with the entire selection of Zuiko Digital lenses. Two stabilization modes are available: one suited for typical handholding and a vertical-only mode designed for panning along with the action. Olympus E-System cameras, including the E-510, work with more than 20 Zuiko Digital lenses designed for use with Four-Thirds imaging sensors. The E-510 comes with the Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm /3.5-5.6 (28-84mm equivalent) zoom lens, and the two-lens outfit also includes the Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm /4.0-5.6 (80-300mm equivalent). Olympus was the first in the industry to offer sensor dust-reduction technology, and the EVOLT E-510 continues the tradition. Vibrating at 35,000 times per second, the Supersonic Wave Filter, located between the shutter and image sensor, shakes off dust that has settled on the sensor every time you turn on the camera.
