PCPhoto Columnists - Lewis Kemper
Lewis Kemper specializes in nature, wildlife and people-in-the-outdoors images. His work has been exhibited and published in magazines, books and calendars worldwide. A resident of Yosemite National Park for 11 years, he worked at the Ansel Adams Gallery from 1978 to 1980, where he observed and learned from some of the best photographers of our time. "The experience of working at the Ansel Adams Gallery was very influential in my development as a photographer," Kemper says.
He shoots with 35mm and 4x5 cameras, and also explores digital imaging's possibilities to create new work. His images are in the permanent collection of the Baltimore Museum of Art. Since 1980, he's been a freelance photographer and owner and director of Sierra Photographic Workshops. His work has appeared in 11 magazines, and Kemper's "Outside/Inside" column appears in PCPhoto Magazine. He has authored three books, including The Yosemite Photographer's Handbook, The Yellowstone Photographer's Handbook and his most recent, Ancient Ancestors of the Southwest.
