PCPhoto Contributing Editors - James Lawrence James Lawrence's path to photography has been anything but direct. After a stint at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Lawrence caught the acting bug. He performed in television, film and stage productions, and was also a restaurateur and built geodesic domes. In the 1970s, he became a hang glider and ultralight aircraft pilot. His love of aviation turned into an editorial position at Werner Publishing. He has functioned as a managing editor for Ultralight , Plane & Pilot and Outdoor Photographer Magazines. He worked at Werner Publishing for 15 years in a variety of editorial positions. Since 1992, Lawrence has taken the majority of aviation images for Plane & Pilot Magazine and, as a contributing editor for OP and PCPhoto, he has written more than 100 articles on a multitude of subjects.
