Put Your iPod To Good Use - 9/24/07 |
I
remember my first Sony Walkman. It was awesome: totally affordable,
able to play an infinite amount of music (provided you had those little
information cassettes that stored the music files) and really
portableit almost fit in your pocket! The only problem was it only
played music. Thankfully I gave up my Walkman this year and got an
iPod, which can also double as a digital backup device. Sure, the iPod
isnt the smallest of thumb drives, but its got a huge capacity and
its pretty easy to use. With all current models of iPod, from the new iPod Classic, iPod Nano, and even the slightly older iPod Video Players, these small devices let you sync up photos via iTunes to look at full screen photos, or even let you create a slideshow with music and transitions. To turn your iPod into an ideal digital photo
storage device, open iTunes on your computer, connect your iPod,
and in the Options window choose Enable disk use. Youll then be able
to allocate capacities for music and data, ensuring that you never run
out of room for your digitized record albums, and you can still back up
important data and easily move it from one computer to anotherwhich I
do a lot of now, since Im digitizing all those old cassettes. If only
I could import my 8-tracks. Visit http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61131. Photo courtesy of Apple |
